1. Angela, could you share a bit about your journey and what inspired you to become a global leadership coach?
I started my own company Global People Transitions over a decade ago because I wanted to help expats and their families in a direct way through intercultural coaching. I have a rich background including HR and Global Mobility management, and have undergone numerous trainings to become the Global Leadership Coach I am today.
2. What are the most significant challenges female business owners and aspiring entrepreneurs face in global mobility?
Challenges include business development hurdles, misconceptions about coaching, and the dominance of large providers in the market. Many companies lack provisions for supporting expat partner careers. My advice: Start building your email list and direct marketing early.
3. How does the RockMeApp support expats, nomads, and international leaders?
The RockMeApp is a platform for clients to access program content, resources, and reflection exercises. It supports development across key competencies for inclusive leadership.
4. How can leaders foster trust and psychological safety in multicultural teams?
Leaders should listen to all voices and establish team ground rules collaboratively. Exercises such as those shared on my site can help develop psychological safety. For deeper learning, my workbook “The Global Rockstar Album” and programs like “Global Rockstars” provide guidance.
5. Strategies for creating inclusive global mobility guidelines?
Redefining “expat family” inclusively, offering flexible services, and gathering client feedback to improve are crucial. Collaborating with local communities and embracing diversity benefits all.
6. The role of digitalisation in returning human touch to global mobility?
Digital tools like RockMeApp enable scalable yet personalised coaching. High-level coaching is irreplaceable despite AI advancements, especially regarding cultural nuances and trust-building.
7. Advice for building successful and inclusive remote teams?
Invest in continuous learning, authentic leadership, and embrace inclusivity. My “Global Rockstars” program supports this journey.
8. How should companies support mental health in global teams?
Beyond employee support services, reasonable workload management and clarity on expectations matter. Partnering with expert providers and customised coaching are key.
9. Role of language and cultural understanding in leadership?
Learning languages and cultural awareness enhances leadership. Reflecting and working with intercultural coaches can deepen understanding and effectiveness.
10. Future trends in global mobility and leadership?
Focus will shift to inclusive leadership, sustainable diversity initiatives, and overcoming backlash against DEIB efforts. Building bridges across cultures and empowering women leaders are urgent priorities.
